7 technology trends in 2022 – Nano services, Low Code, Multicloud…

The growth of the IT sector in the coming years will be driven by investment, software, services and data centre systems. In our country, technological spending will be close to 60,000 million euros and, for this reason, digital strategy has become a critical factor among companies. Gartner has calculated that the investment that will be made in IT in 2022 will exceed four trillion dollars worldwide, which is 5.5% more than the previous year. Low code

Implementing a low code development platform is essential for accelerating application downloads within companies, which increased by 7% in 2020. Updating applications, within the changing technological context in which we find ourselves, and doing so in a way that is aligned with IT and business, can help us in terms of time and objectives to achieve the desired results.

These low-code development platforms use very little code, as they are based on modules that have already been created to improve, change and even update an application. As the code is reused, the process is cheaper and, for this reason, their development will be increasingly more widespread, as they are very cost-effective and allow modifications without having to start from scratch.

 

Zero Trust Security

A new form of data protection is arriving: the Zero Trust Security model will take hold in the coming months, as it leaves behind perimeter security protocols in the context of teleworking, already widely implemented in Spanish companies after the arrival of the pandemic. This is a very important model, considering that more than half of the security incidents that took place this year were caused by human error.

Zero Trust Security is a model that assumes that users are not trusted, whether they are on or off the network, and therefore removes trust from this formula. When this model is implemented, the user and their accessing device are authenticated. When the verification proves that both are correct, the authorisation to operate arrives. In order to confirm these accesses, four steps are carried out: verify the user, verify the device, limit access and privilege, and learn and adapt your security protocols.

 

Forward Compilation and Nanoservices

In recent months, and even more so in 2022, the use of programming languages based on “Ahead-of-Time” (AOT) compilation is increasing; this is because the AOT generates a natively executable file to the platform on which it is to be implemented.

These solutions enable, at the architectural level, a new concept of execution unit known as “nanoservice”, whose main characteristic is that it is based on very small services, often with a single function, and is highly scalable. In order to optimise the execution costs of their systems, they are opting for solutions based on AOT compilers.

 

Industrialisation of AI Platforms

Artificial intelligence (AI) is here to stay and, as a result, its rapid growth translates into a forecast value of 267 billion dollars in the global market by 2027. One of the keys to its success is industrialisation, which is based on three keys: the first step in industrialising an organisation’s AI is through its data sources, which generate data products with greater access, quality and availability for the operation. Secondly, it is necessary to have the global contribution and collaboration of the different teams involved to achieve this innovation.

And finally, all of this would not make sense without prior preparation that integrates AI-based solutions within the operational framework of companies, with which to identify, in advance, processes that need to be modified to enable the adoption of new technologies, and above all the establishment of standards for the creation, testing and deployment of new AI models.

 

Hyper-automation, Improving Operational Efficiency

For a business to succeed, it is no longer only necessary to increase sales; optimising internal processes plays a major role in achieving this. This means focusing on three essential factors: taking advantage of technological advances, adopting new ways of working that optimise people management and automating processes. But what is hyper-automation? It is a combination of solutions based on RPA, virtual assistants, artificial intelligence, machine learning or deep learning, among others, which allow the automation and improvement of the speed, effectiveness and efficiency of processes in all sectors. Optimising resources is undoubtedly one of the fundamental objectives in this field and, to achieve this, it is predicted, according to IDC data, that by 2022, 45% of repetitive tasks in companies will be automated and/or accelerated.

 

Internet of Behaviours

The collection of data from the use of IoT devices and the interactions with them is what we know as the Internet of Behaviours (IoB), a trend that will be increasingly present and on the rise in the coming months in Spanish companies. With this data, we obtain very valuable information about the behaviour, interests and preferences of users and, thanks to it, companies can offer fully personalised experiences that improve their interaction with the user.

This data can also lead to the redesign of the value chain of companies, which will be able to adapt their products and services to meet their needs by anticipating their trends.

 

Multicloud Infrastructure 

This is one of the fastest growing trends, backed by Red Hat‘s Global Tech Outlook, which predicts a 13% increase this year. These are environments in which a company uses more than one cloud platform with at least two or more public clouds, and which are extremely useful due to their flexibility and scalability, depending on demand.
